Hybrid Angel Trumpets

Brugmansias, the newest Scentsation

Welcome

This website was started for folks local to the Barnesville-Griffin, Georgia area and the UGA Experiment Garden for education purposes on growing Brugmansia.  I often sell cuttings so check my availability page or email me. I'll be happy to answer any questions regarding your purchases or refer you to other trusted vendors.

Thanks again for making this another good year, we can't have too many Angels in this lifetime!

Brugmansia

If you haven't grown Brugmansia's, better known as Angel Trumpets yet, you're in for pure delight of the senses. I discovered them over 6 years ago and have been collecting different varieties ever since--you can't have just one, I'm now up to 25 of the 600 + registered, and still collecting! So far, I have grown 52 of them.  Nothing beats the size, scent and sheer volume of blooms, some 22" long. Did I say scent? They release their seductive scents mainly at night to attract the night pollinaters and a beautiful reason for enjoying the warm nights of our South. They differ in scent, color, growth habits and  flower type, but I think I've picked the best varieties for those of us here in Georgia.

I try to only grow the 'named' (registered) varieties that have been bred for scent, vigor and pest resistance, with the exception of the brugmansia 'Monster'. Grown as a tree, bush or in a pot, there is a "brug" for everyone.  The types I've selected are mostly hardy to overwinter outside, however, they can be overwinted indoors for quicker blooms. I have some that flower from May to November. All I can say is indulge and enjoy, you will quickly find you can't have just one.

About me

I am just a hobby grower, and want to show off these beautiful hybrid flowers to everyone and share knowledge of what has done well for me. Since I cannot bear to see some of the older varieties disappear forever, I am hope to reignite the interest on brugs tried and true and capture their beauty.   I recommend Brugmansia Growers International where quite a few members are from Georgia. Browse through their brugmansia galleries and start your wish lists!

I have offered some of my varieties to the Georgia Experimental Garden here in Griffin, and am a member of  "Friends of the Garden", if you haven't visited yet, please come, it's a great way to find out which plants do well here and what's in bloom in our different seasons.

Please see my 'Favorite Links' page, you'll be amazed at the beautiful pictures and information supplied!
